Fit Guide

How to Measure

Getting the right fit starts with accurate measurements. This guide applies to all DrinkLocal products — t-shirts, hoodies, or anything else we make.

📏

Chest / Bust

Wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your chest, just under your armpits. Keep the tape horizontal and snug — not tight. This is the most important measurement for t-shirts and hoodies.

Tip: If you are between sizes, size up for a more relaxed fit.

↕️

Body Length

Measure from the highest point of your shoulder (where the collar meets the shoulder seam) straight down to where you want the hem to sit. Compare this to the garment length in the size chart.

Tip: Taller individuals may prefer a size up for extra length even if the chest fits.

Shoulder Width

Measure across the back from the edge of one shoulder to the other. This helps with structured fits and hoodies where the shoulder seam placement matters.

Tip: For relaxed and oversized styles, shoulder width is less critical than chest.

🦾

Sleeve Length

Start at the center back of your neck, measure across to the shoulder seam, then down to your wrist. Used for long-sleeve shirts, flannels, and hoodies.

Tip: Bend your arm slightly when measuring for the most accurate result.

Waist

Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, usually about an inch above your belly button. Relevant for fitted styles and women's cuts.

Tip: Keep one finger between the tape and your body for a comfortable fit.

General Measuring Tips

  • Use a soft fabric tape measure, not a metal one.
  • Measure over lightweight clothing or directly on skin for accuracy.
  • Have someone help — self-measuring can pull the tape unevenly.
  • Take each measurement twice and use the larger number.
  • Compare your measurements to the flat garment measurements in our size charts — garment measurements are typically half your body measurement.

Body Measurements vs. Garment Measurements

Our size charts show flat garment measurements — meaning the shirt laid flat and measured across. Your body measurement will be roughly double the garment measurement.

For example: if the size chart shows a chest width of 20" for size M, that means the shirt is 20" across when laid flat — which fits a body chest of approximately 38–40".
