Before the Merch, There Was a Website
Every great night out has a story. We're here to help you wear yours. But first — here's ours.
2000 – 2002
Before the Beginning
The domain started with a cause. A coworker named Pete registered drinklocal.com in 2000 to run a civic campaign to legalize retail beer and wine sales in McKinney, TX — a dry city at the time. The site collected petition signatures, chased a 30-day deadline, and fought the good fight for the freedom to drink local.
It was hyperlocal democracy at work, long before that phrase meant anything to anyone.

Dallas Nightlife Weekly
In July 2002, the site changed hands and relaunched with a new mission: “Weekly magazine for events within the Dallas area.” For nearly a decade, DrinkLocal.com was a hand-curated guide to Dallas nightlife — happy hours, live music, concerts, and the kind of places worth knowing about.
A weekly email went out to subscribers every week keeping them in the loop. Before social media made event discovery effortless, this was the resource people actually relied on.
Every listing was curated by hand. Every email was written and sent manually. No algorithm, no feed — just someone who cared about the Dallas scene enough to keep the lights on every week.

Hiatus
Life got busy. The site went quiet. The domain held, the brand stayed intact, and DrinkLocal waited for its next chapter.
Sometimes the best stories need a long pause before the next act.
2025 – Now
The Comeback
That chapter is this. DrinkLocal is back — this time as a place where the stories that happened over drinks, at shows, in bars, and on dodgeball courts get turned into something you can actually wear.
Every collection starts with a real story. This one's ours.
